Influenced by fashion photography and the graphic arts of cartoons and advertising, Xiong painted enthusiastic and energetic youth in vibrant colors, conveying the wish for openness and abundance that are aspired to by the 1980's generation of China's urban youth that grew up among new-found consumerism and personal wealth. Born in 1975 in the city of Chongqing, Xiong Lijun obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fine Art from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
